a day of relationship status

It doesn’t have to be
a day of wistfulness
a day of longing
a day of regrets

Valentine’s Day 
can be anything you want it to be
and that’s all that matters 
about it

It can be a day of gratitude
thankful for loved ones in our lives

It can be a day of self-care
pampering and peace

It can be a day of laughter
friendship and joy

It can be a day of
knowing and remembering
that you are loved
by your Creator
with a love beyond
any love you can imagine

It is so easy

to get confused

to blur the lines

to use sex
in place of love

to fill a void

to feel good
about
myself

But it usually
doesn’t work out
that way

So, I will look for the fine line
that separates love and sex
I see that sex can be part of love
but they are not the same
and I will know the difference

I am valuable
for more than
my body
for more than
how I make you feel

and I am complete
as I am.
